north indian music 2007-04-19
The Calcutta Trio band plays classical North-Indian music, the members of which follow in the footsteps of their master, the world famous Ravi Shankar, thus representing a special dash of color on the Hungarian musical palette. The sitar artist, who brought the three-thousand year old tunes to the Western World, taught his ragas, his compositions to the founder of the band, András Kozma. András Kozma plays the sitar, Péter Szalai plays classical Indian accompaniment on his percussion instrument, the tabla, while the tanpura is played by András Molnár, to sound the retained harmonies of a many thousand-year old culture.
